White Pages
After many years of web projects requireing various ranges of content management, we decided to build a modular system that can accomodate any combination of content needs. We have developed a system that includes basic page, user, and file management and allows for plugins to be added to that base functionality.
The Motivation
We realized that we did not want to be in the content business, nor did our clients want to rely on us for every missing comma or bolding of a word. With Soapbox, we can launch the CMS at the beginning of the project and begin collaborating on page architecture and content while design and development are in process. The client has access to their site during development and after launch.
The Benefits
Web sites and applications can be built to accomplish their actual objective rather than their watered down functionality in order to fit in a pre-defined box of an open source system. New plugins can be developed to seemlessly integrate with Soapbox.
The Alternatives
We have worked with and researched systems like WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal enough to realize that they are not flexible enough to meet our clients needs. We've also looked at them closely enough to realize that it would take more work to customize these sytems to meet our clients needs than to build a system of our own.
